Working with Charities and Social Enterprises

  • Wharfe Room, The Guildhall Coney Street York, England, YO1 9QL United Kingdom (map)

Creatives often tell us that one of the reasons they go freelance is to have the ability to choose the clients they work with.

We know that the clients our members most enjoy working with are not necessarily the ones that pay the most, but are often the ones that have a social mission and a strong set of values.

But how easy is it to win work with these types of businesses, who predominantly operate in the Charity and Social Enterprise sectors?

What do we need to know as freelancers if we want to win work from clients like this?

Grace Abell is a senior brand and editorial designer with over a decade of experience delivering creative for brands, charities and events.

Grace will talk about her work in the Charity and Social Enterprise sector, outlining how to build lasting relationships that lead to repeat commissions. She will cover how freelancers should position themselves and their services, how to bid on jobs and sensitively negotiate budgets, how to engage high net worth individuals, and how to approach working with charity trustees.

This workshop is funded by Screen Industries Growth Network and is open to all creative practitioners in York and the surrounding areas.

Please arrive between 10:50 and 11:00 for an 11:05 start.
